{"id":1804,"date":"2018-08-21T09:26:50","date_gmt":"2018-08-21T09:26:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jcmeister.de\/?page_id=1804"},"modified":"2018-08-23T16:36:25","modified_gmt":"2018-08-23T16:36:25","slug":"3dh-en","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/jcmeister.de\/3dh-en\/","title":{"rendered":"3DH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--:en--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/jcmeister.de\/projects\/3dh\/\">&#8230; auf Deutsch<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/threedh.catma.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Three-dimensional Dynamic Data Visualization and Exploration for Digital Humanities Research <\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n<address style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Physically visualizing data empowers human cognitive processes and enables us to see what might not otherwise be seen when reviewing more traditional representations.<\/address>\n<address style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">(Chavez 2012:3)<\/address>\n<address style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/jcmeister.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/3dh-logo-final-small.png\" rel=\"http:\/\/threedh.catma.de\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1504 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/jcmeister.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/3dh-logo-final-small.png\" alt=\"3dh-logo-final-small\" width=\"300\" height=\"227\" \/><\/a><\/address>\n<h2>Project outline<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/threedh.catma.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3DH<\/a> is a 3-year pilot project for the preparation of a larger research co-operation in a second phase. <a href=\"http:\/\/threedh.catma.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3DH<\/a> focuses on the dynamic visualization and exploration of Humanities data from a DH perspective, and with particular emphasis on 3D-visualizations. The major goals for the pilot phase are (a) to establish a methodological and theoretical orientation as well as to develop prototypes of visualization tools as demonstrators, and to (b) prepare and submit a funding appliaction for phase 2. Potential funding opportunities include HORIZON 2020-REFLECTIVE 7 as well as the DFG\/NEH <em>Bi-lateral Digital Humanities Programme<\/em>. <a href=\"http:\/\/threedh.catma.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3DH<\/a> phase one is financed for 3 years by a grant provided by Hamburg&#8217;s Ministery for Science and Research, starting in 2016.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h2>Project start<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/threedh.catma.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3DH<\/a> project has officially commenced on 1 February 2016 &#8211; for ongoing documentation, please <a href=\"http:\/\/threedh.catma.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">visit the project website<\/a>. During the Summer semester 2016 (April through July) we will have two distinguished visiting professors and visualization experts with us:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prof. Johanna Drucker, UCLA &#8211; https:\/\/gseis.ucla.edu\/directory\/johanna-drucker\/<\/li>\n<li>Prof. Geoffrey Rockwell, University of Alberta \/ Canada &#8211; http:\/\/geoffreyrockwell.com\/<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Welcome to Hamburg, Johanna and Geoffrey &#8211; we&#8217;re very excited about this cooperation!<\/p>\n<p>Also, during the Summer semester 2016 the 3DH project is loosely coordinated with a public lecture series at Hamburg University on &#8220;Dynamic Data Visualization in the Humanities&#8221;, commencing on 7 April 2016 (Thursdays 16-18:00 in ESA J &#8211; Code 52-125).<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, 3DH will also create and use synergies with my seminar II titled &#8220;Distant reading\u2018 und Datenvisualisierung&#8221; (Mondays 10-12 am &#8211; Code 52-241)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Project team 2016<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Prof. Jan Christoph Meister &#8211; PI and project leader<\/li>\n<li>Marco Petris, Dipl.
