{"id":471,"date":"2012-12-03T12:57:55","date_gmt":"2012-12-03T12:57:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jcmeister.de\/?page_id=471"},"modified":"2018-08-22T10:12:10","modified_gmt":"2018-08-22T10:12:10","slug":"tempusparser-und-tempusplotter","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/jcmeister.de\/software\/tempusparser-und-tempusplotter\/","title":{"rendered":"<!--:en-->TempusParser &#038; Plotter<!--:-->"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--:en--><\/p>\n<p>The following graph tries to visualize the computer aided modelling of the temporality effect attempted in our project.<\/p>\n<p>The descriptive categories in our model are based on McTaggarts distinction between<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8216;B-relations&#8217; ( = relational positioning of events in the physical continuum &#8220;before-after&#8221;) and<\/li>\n<li>&#8216;A-determinations&#8217; ( = perception-based dynamic determinations of the chronological position of events within the continuum of perception \/ cognition of &#8220;past-present-future&#8221;).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the purpose of our model &#8216;event&#8217; is understood to signify any material or ideal entity denoted as existing within the narrated world by propositional statements that are expressed on the lexematic surface level &#8211; i.e., by words describing things and persons within the &#8216;world&#8217;, as well as their ideas or imaginations that are being represented as an intradiegetic &#8211; real or hypothetical &#8211; &#8216;fact&#8217;. &#8211; For further information please see my article <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jcmeister.de\/downloads\/texts\/jcm-tagging-time.html\">Tagging Time in Prolog. The Temporality Effect Project<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jcmeister.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Table_51.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-476\" title=\"Table_5\" src=\"https:\/\/jcmeister.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Table_51.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jcmeister.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Table_51.jpg 600w, https:\/\/jcmeister.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Table_51-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>TempusPlotter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a first step we explored the possibility to visualize the output generated by TempusParser in terms of the 3D rock face model of time experience.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jcmeister.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Table_6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-473\" title=\"Table_6\" src=\"https:\/\/jcmeister.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Table_6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"414\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jcmeister.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Table_6.jpg 600w, https:\/\/jcmeister.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Table_6-300x207.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, this model proved unsuitable to visualize the dynamics of linear processing of natural language descriptions of actions, such as given in narratives. \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6czep therefore programmed <strong>TempusPlotter<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jcmeister.de\/downloads\/software\/temporality\/Tempusplotter.zip\" target=\"_blank\">a flash demo<\/a> of a revised model which simulates the output of processing textual time cues (contained in the \u2018Main Text\u2019 box) in terms of a sequential re-positioning of \u2018event blocks\u2019.
