Less than two weeks to go to the Dr. Evil Classic<\/strong> – training quite a bit (did 72 kms yesterday), but looking at the profile maps and the route descriptions I get a bit nervous…<\/p>\n

What’s the Dr. Evil? It is a three day, three stage mountain bike race in South Africa with a total distance of 260 km and close to 4800 meters climbing. Day three is identical to the famous 95 km Karoo to Coast<\/em> race from the Karoo town of Uniondale to Knysna, the seaside town on the Indian Ocean where our family home is.\u00a0 I’ve done that twice already and it is my absolute favorite – a spectacular route and the best vibes I’ve ever experienced on a race!<\/p>\n

In weniger als zwei Wochen beginnt das Dr. Evil Classic Mountainbikerennen. Das Training l\u00e4uft so weit ganz gut (gestern 72km geschafft), aber wenn ich mir die H\u00f6henprofilkarten und Routenbeschreibungen so anschaue, werde ich trotzdem etwas nerv\u00f6s…<\/p>\n

Only 1100 meters climbing; that’s doable. But then comes day two:<\/p>\n

OK – so then we’re in Uniondale (where I’ll sleep in a tent – left it too late to book accommodation this year, arrrgh.\u00a0 Anyway; day three is not as tough as day two (but tough enough for sure):<\/p>\n

I’ll be buggered for sure!\u00a0 But then there’s the wonderful finish line in Knysna and the Mitchell’s beer tent!<\/p>\n

Aber was ist eigentlich dieses \u201eDr. Evil\u201c Rennen? Es ist ein dreit\u00e4giges und dreistufiges Mountainbikerennen in S\u00fcdafrika, vom 21. bis zum 23. September 2012. Die komplette Distanz betr\u00e4gt 260km und fast 4800 H\u00f6henmeter. Der dritte Tag entspricht dem ber\u00fchmten \u201eKaroo to Cost\u201c-Rennen, welches vom Stadtteil Karoo in Uniondale bis nach Knysna geht, welches am selben K\u00fcstenabschnitt des indischen Ozeans liegt wie unser Haus. Ich bin dieses Rennen bereits zweimal gefahren und es ist mein absolutes Lieblingsrennen \u2013 eine spektakul\u00e4re Route kombiniert mit der besten Stimmung, die ich je bei einem Rennen erlebt habe.<\/p>\n

OK \u2013 dann werden wir also in Uniondale sein (wo ich in einem Zelt schlafen muss, weil ich mich zu sp\u00e4t um eine Unterkunft gek\u00fcmmert habe, arrrgh). Wie auch immer; Tag drei wird wohl nicht mehr ganz so anstrengend (wohl aber immer noch anstrengend genug, so viel ist sicher):<\/p>\n
